Hiking in the Smokies

Our Hiking Trips

The Llamas' centuries old ability as a beast of burden has been rediscovered by hikers, backpackers, and forest work crews. Their surefootedness and padded feet, along with their ability to graze and browse, has minimal impact on the back country. The Llamas' common sense and gentle manner makes them an excellent pack animal and trail companion. Males are most commonly packers, and can carry 50 to 120 pounds.

Webster's definition for trekking certainly doesn't apply to our idea of a Llama Trek. Instead of having to struggle along the trail with back packs heavily loaded with the barest of necessities, you will be able to enjoy easy to moderate hikes with some of the conveniences associated with campground facilities.

Think of our Llamas as your hiking companions. Not only are they going to carry the load you would normally have to contend with, most llamas enjoy the hike as much as their handler. Llamas with their keen eyes, tend to notice wildlife and draw our attention to things you would normally not even see along the trail. Their intelligence, agility and calm disposition make them outstanding pack animals. Put that together with their surefootedness, ease of handling and low impact on the environment, and you can soon see why so many have come to see trekking as a great way to enjoy the outdoors!

English Mountain Llama Treks provides hearty meals, snacks and beverages, as well as all your camping gear for your back country adventure. You'll be surprised at what a comfortable camp you will have when you hike with us. Besides tents, sleeping mattress and bags, there are roll up tables and stools for the dining area and paraflies to keep the rain off. Forget the freeze dried normal backpacker meal, we can have coolers for ice water, fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and frozen deserts!

We can tailor a trip to suit your needs. Here are our standard trips and prices.
